SiS & ECS Joint Roadshow in South East Asia
Feb 25th, Taipei, Taiwan ? Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. (SiS), a leading core logic and graphics supplier, today announced to conduct a series of roadshow in South East Asia (Philippines and Indonesia) together with ECS, the world-renowned motherboard manufacturer. This is another round of large-scale promotional activity that SiS holds with ECS after its 15-campus tour in China. ECS will demonstrate motherboard incorporated SiS chipsets supporting Intel Pentium 4 (SiS645/SiS650) and AMD XP (SiS745/SiS740) in addition to the graphics SiS315 video display cards. Another highlight of the roadshow is the SiS650 incorporated mobile PC- iBuddie 4.
ECS demonstrated two motherboards with SiS645 chipsets£L4S5A and L4S5M. The SiS645 features unprecedented high performance, full compatibility and low power consumption. It adopts independent south bridge and north bridge design (SiS645/SiS961). The SiS645 is the world¡¯s first P4 chipset supporting high speed DDR333 interface and with the company¡¯s proprietary MuTIOL¢ç technology, it can provide peak bandwidth up to 553MB/s between the north bridge and south bridge. The SiS645 supports DDR333/DDR266/PC133 memory module with up to 3GB memory size. By using DDR, SiS645 can fully exploit the performance of P4 CPU based system for the end users. It also supports the new generation of 400MHz front side bus as well as AGP4X/2X. The companion South bridge, SiS961 integrates various of multimedia functions, such as 5.1 channel AC¡¯97 2.2 audio, 10/100 MB Ethernet, V.90 software modem, Home PNA 2.0, ATA100/66/33 standard IDE interface, 6 PCI slots and 6 USB hosts.
ECS L4S5A uses ATX form factor and provides 3 DIMM slots that support up to 3GB of memory size. By including an AGP4X slot, a CNR slot, 6 PCI slots and 6 USB ports, it provides ample expandability and a full range of peripheral support for the most demanding users. Some special functions are Wake Up / Modem Ring Wake-Up, Anykey Boot, STR (Suspend to RAM) and jumperless BIOS.
ECS L4S5MG incorporates SiS650 integration chipset. In addition to the identical functions to SiS645, the SiS650 integrates the SiS315 graphic core to provide the best performance and compatibility. The SiS315 has a built-in Real256TM bit 3D graphic engine and an Ultra-AGP II memory bandwidth of 2.1GB, equivalent to AGP 8X.
Moreover, for AMD XP platform, ECS demonstrates motherboards featuring the integrated-solution SiS740 and the open-architecture SiS745. In order to provide the best price-performance ratio, SiS740 not only features the outstanding features found in the SiS735 but also integrates SiS315 graphic core. In addition to inheriting the excellent performance of SiS735, the SiS745supports DDR333 and is the world¡¯s first single chip to incorporate IEEE1394.
Another highlight of the roadshow is ECS¡¯ mobile PC named DeskNote iBuddie 4. ECS has been aggressively promoting DeskNote to serve both Desktop and Notebook market. ECS iBuddie 4 delivers the unparallel desktop PC power from SiS650 chipset and Intel P4 CPU while having the protability of a notebook. The launch of iBuddie 4 indicated the determined strategy of SiS to diversify into the notebook market.
As DDR migrates to the mainstream market, SiS is demonstrating full spectrum of DDR supporting products through the roadshow and again demonstrates its leadership in the chipset technology
