Microsoft에서는 최근 보안기능이 강화된 Windows XP
ServicePack2 버전을 공개하여 AMD의 AThlon64 계열이 지원하는 NX flag의 보안기능을 지원하는것으로 알려지고 있는데
AThlon64 프로세서를 사용하는 몇몇 시스템에서 시스템이 계속 재부팅되는 문제가 발생하였다고 한다.
Microsoft에서는 이 문제에 대해 원인과 해결법을 설명하고
있는데 Windows XP SP2를 인스톨하여 no-execute protection으로 알려진 data
execution prevention (DEP)을 활성화시켜 AThlon64가 지원하는 보안기능을 사용할경우 시스템에 장착된 하드웨어가
Mpegport.sys 드라이버 파일을 요구할때 재부팅현상이 일어난다고 한다.
이것은 DEP 기능을 통해 모니터링되고 있는 메모리부분에
Mpegport.sys 드라이버가 데이터를 저장하려고 시도하기 때문에 나타나는 현상이라고 하며 이를 해결하기 위해서는 DEP exception
설정에서 Mpegport.sys 파일을 인식시켜주면 된다고 한다.
RESOLUTION
You may be able to resolve this issue if you configure a
DEP exception. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type Sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
- On the Advanced tab under Performance, click Settings.
- On the Data Execution Prevention tab, click
Hardware and software DEP enabled for all programs
except.
- Click Add, type the path of the Mpegport.sys
file on your hard disk, and then click OK two
times.
